The Best Makeup Lighting for Makeup Applications

There are 2 questions that most definitely are asked during my client consultations…

1. How long does it take me to do my makeup?
2. What type of lighting am I/do I use


Although I can do my makeup in 20 minutes I do like to take at least an hour when I have time. The reason is because when I'm doing my makeup and take my time, it's an experience. To be able to take all of the necessary time to blend out my eyeshadow or get my wings just right is cathartic to me. I know not everyone has an hour but when you have that special night out I encourage you to try it. Light a smelly candle, plan out your look then go for it! It's like taking time to make your favourite meal. How much more delicious is it when you take your time compared to when you slap it together? Put that amount of love into your makeup look.

When it comes to lighting I have 2 favourites. For clients I always use GLAMCOR. It has to flexible arms which allow me to apply lighting exactly where its needed. It also has numerous settings from warm to cool and everything in between. It's also cool to the touch so after a day of makeup I can easily pack the light up as soon as I am finished without worrying about residual heat. A must have for professionals.

When I am doing my own makeup I use FANCII mirrors. They come in table top and compact forms and also have mirrors with magnification to ensure you get those pesky stray brow hairs when cleaning up your brows.
